Keane Foundation Southern Event – March Madness at Keegan’s Public House – A huge Success

IMG_8410

Thanks to the 66 guest who came to Keegan’s Public house on Saturday night to watch some basketball, have some food and drink, and raise money for a great cause. Bottom line – we raised almost $7000 on this event and the Tournament Challenge (which is still going on as we speak).

The event was highly successful for several reasons, the first being the support of the community. Karen would have smiled seeing friends from all over Atlanta come out to support the cause. We had Starr Lake neighborhood people, NASA and YMCA soccer people, Pickett’s Mill Elementary – Allatoona HS people, and even some old Atlanta Magic people come out on Saturday. Thanks to all of you who came out (pictures are being shared on “The Keane Foundation” FB page).

We had corporate sponsors (listed below), who have given to us over the years, and continue to amaze us. Thanks to their generosity, we raised over $4000 on auction items and the live auction Saturday night. Barb Riggs, one of Karen’s best friends and a big Keane Foundation supporter, donated a weeks rental at her Myrtle Beach Condo, which raised $1600 by itself!

Speaking of the condo live auction, a new supporter to the cause, Dustin and Nicole Farthing (owners of Mountain Motor Sports in Kennesaw) had the winning bid on the Barb’s condo, but then turned it in to be re-bid. When they found out Stacy Troxell (a Keane Foundation support recipient who tragically lost her husband last year) had the second place bid, they paid for that too (giving Stacy and her friends/family a free week at the beach). All and all, that was a $1600 donation for which they received nothing except the joy of helping our group. This didn’t even including the $500 worth of Mountain Motor Sports merchandise they had donated for our auction.

Lastly, special thanks to Keegan’s Public House. Like their name implies, Keegan’s is invested in the local community. When approached about hosting this year’s event, the management at Keegans went above and beyond, donating goods and services to help defray the costs and helping us throw a first class event at a reasonable price for our guests.

Again – Thanks to all of our corporate sponsors
